ROCKINGHAM — A registered sex offender is the second suspect charged in the alleged sexual trafficking of a teenager earlier this month.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has charged 73-year-old Keith Alexander Andrews, of Grassy Island Road outside of Ellerbe, in a sexual assault case involving a 14-year-old.
Andrews, and 41-year-old Stepanie Allen Gibson, of Rockingham, are accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting the teenager on or around Aug. 1, according to warrants.
(NOTE: Gibson was jailed several hours before Andrews.)
Both Andrews and Gibson are charged with: two counts of statutory sex offense with a child 15 or younger; statutory rape of a child 15 or younger; indecent liberties with a child; human trafficking of a child victim; and first-degree kidnapping.
Both are being held without bond in the Richmond County Jail and are scheduled to appear in court Sept. 4.
Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show Andrews was convicted in 2016 on three counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Andrews served four years and two months in prison and was entered into the N.C. Sex Offender Registry a few days after his release.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
