ROCKINGHAM — A second man has been charged in connection to a recent theft from Walmart.

According to an arrest warrant, 47-year-old Carl Franklin Meece III stole two Greenworks electric pressure washers and a Greenworks brushless chainsaw from Walmart on June 29, leaving through an emergency exit.

Meece is accused of conspiring with 45-year-old Jody Singletary, who allegedly stole a Troy-Bilt 3300 PSI pressure washer the following day, and another man who has not yet been arrested.

Meece was not listed as a co-conspirator in Singletary’s warrant, but Singletary and the other man are listed on Meece’s warrant.

(NOTE: The third co-conspirator is not being named because he has not been formally charged.)

Meece was arrested July 2 and charged with conspiracy to commit felony larceny, larceny from a merchant using an emergency door and possession of stolen goods or property.

Records show Meece allegedly pawned a studio mixer that did not belong to him for $160 on June 23. He was arrested for that offense, and charged with obtaining property by false pretenses, on July 1 and given a $25,000 unsecured bond.

Meece was also allegedly caught with an unspecified quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine on July 4 and charged with one count each of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine.

Richmond County Jail records show Meece is being held on a combined $20,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on all criminal charges July 17.

Meece also has several pending traffic violations, including driving while license revoked and failure to secure load.

According to records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction, Meece’s parole ended on Dec. 22, 2024 following a Moore County conviction on charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance in January of that year.

Other prior convictions include:

1999 - Richmond County - misdemeanor breaking and entering (listed as a felony) and felony larceny

2004 - robbery with a dangerous weapon (served six years and seven and a half months)

2012 - assault with a deadly weapon, felony breaking and entering (served nearly seven months)

2018 - being a habitual felon, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (Davidson County, served one year, three months and one week); selling a Schedule I controlled substance (concurrent sentence)
