ROCKINGHAM — A convicted felon was released on an unsecured bond Sunday after allegedly being caught with drugs and a gun in a stolen vehicle.

A Facebook post from RCSO does not indicate when the vehicle was reported stolen nor the make and model of the vehicle.

While searching the vehicle, investigators reportedly found 8.8 grams of cocaine, 2.6 grams of marijuana, seven dosage units of roxicodone and three dosage units of oxycodone, as well as a 9mm handgun.

The driver, 30-year-old Brentay Qontell McQueen, of Hamlet, was arrested and charged with: possession of a stolen motor vehicle; possession of a firearm by a felon; possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana; two counts of simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

Online court records show McQueen has pending traffic citations.

Records with the N.C. Department of Adult Correction show McQueen was first convicted in 2012 on two counts of misdemeanor larceny and a single count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The following year, McQueen was convicted of maintaining any place for a controlled substance and served three months and two days behind bars.

McQueen was given probation in 2014 when convicted of manufacturing a Schedule II controlled substance, and in 2017 for possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance.

His probation on the latter conviction was revoked in 2018 when he was convicted of selling a Schedule II controlled substance. Records show McQueen was released from prison in March 2020 and his parole ended in December of that year.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
