Hamlet Police issue wanted poster for shooting suspect

HAMLET — Police on Tuesday issued a wanted poster for a man accused in a Saturday afternoon drive-by shooting.

The Hamlet Police Department is searching for 22-year-old Tyrese Rashad Davis, who has been charged with one count each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Investigators say an unnamed teen is facing the same charges and has not yet been apprehended.

The two are accused of shooting a man who was walking along Spring Street near Dollar General around 3:14 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment of his injuries. Investigators expect him to make a full recovery.

Online records show Davis has no pending charges or previous convictions in the state.

Investigators say he is to be considered armed and dangerous.
