Shirley Carlisle

HAMLET — Shirley Lee Cobbler Carlisle, 80, of Hamlet died Friday, May 3, 2019 at her home with loved ones present.

Shirley was born in Richmond County on Feb. 18, 1939 to the late James A. and Bessie Belton Cobbler. She was also preceded in death by sister Bennie “Teenie” Cobbler Hill and brothers Junior Cobbler, Jack Cobbler, Ray Cobbler, Jerry Cobbler and Thomas Cobbler.  

Shirley is survived by daughters Janet Yannone (Cy), Donna Cranford (Deon), and Cindy Daniels (Dwain); grandchildren Chris Lynn (Blanca), Stephanie Lynn, Deon Cranford (Laura), Jonathan Lynn (Rebecca), Tara King (Brian), Cayce Holmes, Alexis Wise (Jason); step-grandchildren Denita Cauley (Mike), Lindsey Cunningham (Tyler), and Jon Daniels (Marlene); great-grandchildren Jacob, Matthew, Maddie, Jaxon, Carma Rae, Cameron, Aubrey, Emily, Ashley, Savannah, Joshua, Atticus, Callie Jane, Zane and Dakota; step-great-grandchildren Cameron, Morgan, Alanah (Andrew), Cooper, and McKinley; great-great-grandchild Anthony; sisters Nancy Hayes, Bobbie Richardson (Harry), Louise Bell (Bob), Sis Bourgeois; brother Jimmy Cobbler.

Shirley was an avid gardener, enjoyed puzzles, and loved to cook. Her southern hospitality was impeccable. No guest left her home without a conversation or an empty stomach. She loved spending time with her family and adored her dogs Teddy and Little Girl.

Per Shirley’s request, there will be no memorial or burial services. A small family gathering to celebrate the life Shirley took place on Monday afternoon at Richmond Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Scotland Regional Hospice (610 Lauchwood Drive, Laurinburg, NC  28352).
