CORDOVA — Santa Claus rode through town atop a firetruck Saturday afternoon, delivering Christmas presents to the neighborhood children.

The annual parade is a collaboration between the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Cordova Fire and Rescue.

Emergency Services Director Bob Smith led the way, hauling the two boxes of toys along with Deputy Katelin Brigman and Kim Childers who handed the gifts to the kids or their parents during the stops along the route.

The convoy included several of the department’s trucks and an ambulance, with Sparky the Fire Dog riding behind Santa.

The previous week, RCSO teamed up with the Ellerbe Rescue Squad for a similar parade following its Shop with a Deputy program.
