EAST ROCKINGHAM — A car went up in flames just blocks away from the driver’s destination: Joe’s Towing.

The driver reportedly had been having engine problems with the Hyundai Accent and was taking the car to the shop when it caught fire on Mill Road, according to East Rockingham Fire Chief Bill Bayless.

Sheriff Mark Gulledge was riding behind the car and called it in.

The fire happened about a half-mile away from Joe’s Towing, in front of ER Corner Store, Bayless said.
