Hamlet announces schedule of Christmas events

HAMLET — The following is a schedule of Christmastime events in the city of Hamlet:

Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in Main Street Park – Christmas Tree Lighting – Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at the Depot around 6 p.m. courtesy of the Hamlet Fire Department. The Fire Department will serve hot chocolate and cookies. “Polar Express” will be playing in the Rotunda on the main floor. The Gift Shop will be open with gift items for sale.

Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. – Hamlet’s Christmas Parade of Lights – Commercial floats are available to rent. Entry forms are on the City of Hamlet and Hamlet Depot & Museums Facebook pages as well as for pick-up at City Hall and Visitor Center. The brighter the better for parade entries and trophies will be awarded based on creativity. A DJ will be playing Christmas music in front of City Hall with a commentator announcing parade entries as they go by and food trucks will be set up across the road from City Hall in the old A&P parking lot.  

Dec. 11, 4-7 p.m. – Olde Fashioned Christmas on Hamlet Avenue with hot chocolate, cookies and hay rides. Santa will make an appearance at the Depot from 4-6 p.m. with Sharon Hutchinson, harpist, playing for our listening pleasure.
