HAMLET ― Police say a man caught on camera leaving a stolen car at a gas station stole his getaway vehicle in another state.

Detective Capt. Randy Dover of the Hamlet Police Department said Friday that the SUV the suspect drove off in was stolen in Hartsville, South Carolina, on Wednesday.

Security footage from the Circle B convenience store shows a man pulling up to the pump in a Scion xB, getting out of the car with a purse and other items in his hands and getting into the driver’s side of a light-colored Chevy Tahoe.

Investigators say a female suspect was inside the SUV and moved to the back before the male suspect got inside and drove away.
