Ladies Night to be Held at First United Methodist Church in Rockingham

ROCKINGHAM – Things most women love: chocolate, diamonds, and of course, a fun night out with the ladies.

First United Methodist Church in Rockingham will have two out of three of those famous favorites at its Ladies Night event Tuesday evening.

Kicking off at 5:30 p.m. in the church, its seasonal Ladies Night event will surely leave all attendees with a sense of social satisfaction and spiritual motivation.

Beginning with a few minutes of mingling, the ladies in attendance will then be seated and treated to a delicious meal catered by Rick’s Catering of Laurinburg.  But since it is ladies’ night after all, not one woman will have to lift a single finger to portion a plate or refill a glass.  Rather, that is what the men are for.  In the spirit of fun and fellowship, the men of the church have signed up to serve as waiters for the special affair.

Following dinner, Reverend Patricia Greene of First Baptist Church will give a speech, which will be followed by the presentation of door prizes from generous local vendors.

Tickets for this Ladies Night event are just $15 each and are available to all women in the community, not just those who attend First Methodist Church.

“In fact,” explained church financial secretary, Cornelia McKenzie, “most of the people that come are not members.

“Especially for somebody new to the community, it is a good opportunity to meet people,” McKenzie continued. “Since not everyone who goes is a member of our church, it is a great place to meet people from different churches and different areas, and a great place to mingle.

“Plus,” she added, “we have people from all different age groups who come, and we have a great time.”

But perhaps one of the greatest aspects of this event is that as attendees are enjoying an evening of fellowship. They will also supporting a great cause, as all of the proceeds from the event go to supporting their Merry Makers organization.

“The Merry Makers”, as explained by McKenzie, “is our senior adult group.  They do trips and meals and other activities once a month, so the money raised goes to help offset the cost of their events for them.”

Tickets for Tuesday’s event are no longer available as they must be purchased in advance.  However, the church has already scheduled another Ladies Night event for May, which will undoubtedly be here in the blink of an eye.  Individuals who are interested in attending May’s event are encouraged to contact First Methodist Church at (910) 895-4027 to learn more about event dates and ticket sales.
