Motorcycle Rider Air-Lifted to Hospital

Motorcycle Rider Air-Lifted to Hospital

ROCKINGHAM – Emergency responders got the call that there was a motorcycle down on Old Cheraw Highway around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

On arrival units found one motorcycle had wrecked after an animal had darted in front of the rider, causing him to lose control and crash the cycle.

Medical personnel determined that the patient would need to be air-lifted with multiple injuries to the head and shoulder areas.

Cordova Fire Rescue members set up an LZ (landing zone) at the Heli Pad next to Burlington Industries.

The “UNC Tarheel 2” helicopter landed and transported the patient to Charlotte.

Units responding were: Cordova Fire Rescue; First Health Richmond EMS; Richmond County Sheriff’s Office; and North Carolina Highway Patrol.

The accident is being investigated by the Highway Patrol.
