ROCKINGHAM — A juvenile was driving a reported stolen car Thursday that led to a chase through at least two counties, ending in a wreck.

According to a report from the Rockingham Police Department, the juvenile, whose information was redacted from the report, was driving a 2008 Mercedes registered to Sheena Danielle Carr of Charlotte.

Richmond County law enforcement had originally thought the vehicle was stolen from Anson County, where a pursuit was reportedly initiated.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was prepared to lay down a stop strip on the U.S. 74 Bypass, according to Chief Deputy Mark Gulledge.

However, the juvenile took U.S. 74 Business and came through Rockingham.

Just after passing the intersection of Biltmore Drive at an estimated 60 mph, the Mercedes collided with the rear a 2009 Mitsubishi, driven by 39-year-old Antonio Dwayne Clark of Laurinburg, at 50 mph, according to the RPD report.

The Mitsubishi was pushed forward and to the right, colliding with a utility pole and coming to rest on the side of the road in front of Mama Noi’s, the report reads.

The Mercedes came to a rest 27 feet from the site of impact and the juvenile reportedly tried to leave the scene, but got stuck on the curb near Firestone Tire in Richmond Plaza.

Both Clark and his passenger, 21-year-old Jaquan McCrae, of Rockingham, were taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond for minor injuries.

The juvenile and his passenger, 20-year-old Ahmad Clayvon Graham, of Fayetteville, were not injured and were both apprehended.

No charges could be found through online sources and messages left with the Anson County Sheriff’s Office and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department had not been returned at the time of publication.
