HAMLETÂ — A passenger in a small SUV was transported to the hospital with minor injuries following a single vehicle crash just before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred just outside of Hamlet at the intersection of Airport Road and Osborne Road.
Firefighters and rescue personnel reported that the driver of a white Chevy SUV stated that a deer had darted from the woods causing him to swerve and crash into the tree.

The patient was transported to the hospital by Hamlet Rescue.
Agencies responding included the Hamlet Fire and Rescue, the Richmond County Sheriffâs Office and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident is being investigated by the Highway Patrol.
