Wadesboro men facing gun, weed charges

ROCKINGHAM — Two Anson County men are facing drug and gun charges on this side of the Pee Dee River.

According to warrants dated July 26, 41-year-old Calvin Demonds Miller was found in possession of a Taurus .357 magnum with a scratched serial number and 27-year-old Chadric Mandell Burns had a stolen Hi-Point 9mm Luger. Both men are from Wadesboro.

Officers also allegedly found a half-ounce of marijuana, a grinder and cigar wrappers.

Both were arrested and booked into the Richmond County Jail.

Miller is charged with possession of a gun with an altered serial number and Burns is charged with possession of a stolen firearm.

Both are charged with one misdemeanor count each of carrying a concealed gun, possession of up to a half-ounce of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Online court records show Burns is also charged with operating a vehicle with no insurance, driving while license revoked, having a fictitious or altered title, registration card or tag and a window tint violation.

They are both being held under a $5,000 secured bond and are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety show neither has any previous convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
