Lady Rockets earn home win over Cordova

ROCKINGHAM — The Rockingham Middle School girls’ basketball team returned to the court Tuesday with a win.

Hosting Cordova Middle School, which features players from Cordova and Ellerbe middle schools, the Lady Rockets earned a 52-18 win.

Eighth grader Jamyia Lindsey scored a game-high 18 points and added one rebound for Rockingham. Also netting double digits were J’Nasia Neal (13 points) and Madisen Jackson (11 points). 

Jackson added seven rebounds and Neal scooped up five boards. Teammate Sharonda Henderson collected a team-best 11 rebounds to go with her two points.

Kamora Watkins scored four points and had seven rebounds and Kaylan Parsons chipped in two points and six boards for Rockingham.

Cordova’s leading scorers were Symone Terry and Amariah Gibson, who each netted five points. RahAsia Adams scored four points, and both Maddie Maree and Abby Wellman had two points.

Rockingham improved to 2-0, while the Lady Cavaliers fell to 0-2. The two teams will meet again on Monday, March 8, at 4 p.m. in Cordova.
