ROCKINGHAM — Also appearing on the new Sideline Soundbites from the Gridiron feature is rising senior defensive tackle Kaleel Brown.

Brown, who like J.D. Lampley, saw considerable reps last season. In 12 games as a junior, Brown had 29 tackles, two quarterback hurries and picked up one fumble recovery and one sack.

This season, fourth-year head coach Bryan Till and first-year defensive coordinator James Johnson are switching the defense to a 4-3 scheme. That will see four downed linemen, with Brown serving as one of the defensive tackles.

At 5-11, 2866 pounds, Brown will look to pack a powerful punch against opposing offensive lines.

Hoping to make the most of his senior season, which is scheduled to begin in February, Brown explains how it feels to be back with the team, his expectations for himself and the new defense and shares the idea of playing football in the winter.

The Richmond Observer will continue its Sideline Soundbites feature with the Raider offense later this week.
