ROCKINGHAM — More of Richmond Senior High School’s winter sports programs will wrap up regular-season play this week, while others will continue Sandhills Athletic Conference action.

Basketball teams at Scotland, Southern Lee

Richmond’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will both play on the road at Scotland and Southern Lee high schools Tuesday and Friday, respectively.

Closing out the first round of SAC play Tuesday, the Lady Raiders (13-4, 5-0 SAC) will look to take sole possession of first place in the standings. The Lady Scots (12-1, 5-0) enter on an eight-game winning streak, as Richmond has won six straight.

That will be followed by a road game against the last-place Lady Cavaliers (0-12, 0-5 SAC) Friday. Both games will start at 6 p.m.

The Raiders (12-5, 5-0 SAC) are currently by themselves in first place in the conference standings and will try to win their sixth game in a row against the third-place Fighting Scots (7-8, 3-2 SAC).

On Friday, Richmond will face the second-place Cavaliers (15-1, 4-1 SAC) for the second time this season. Southern Lee’s only loss came against Richmond, 93-55, on Dec. 11. Both of the Raiders’ games will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Reworked schedule extends bowling season

The Richmond boys’ bowling team (8-4) and girls’ bowling team (6-6) will each compete in one more dual-match this week before ending the regular season with a solo match next week.

The Raiders and Lady Raiders are set to face Union Pines High School in both matches of the two-match outing. Bowlers will compete Thursday in Aberdeen and start at 4 p.m.

Swimming teams close regular season

Set to close their regular season, the Raider and Lady Raider swimming teams will face SAC opponents Wednesday at the Leach Aquatic Center in Raeford, beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Wrestling awaits regional seedings
