RALEIGH — The State Board of Elections on Thursday received a 2020 Clearinghouse Award for Best Practices in Recruiting, Retaining and Training Poll Workers. The State Board won the national award for its Democracy Heroes campaign, which recruited nearly 60,000 election workers across the state for the 2020 general election.

ROCKINGHAM — The Wound Care & Hyperbarics program at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond has received a national award for continued excellence in wound healing, scoring in the top 10 percent of eligible wound care centers.  This is the sixth year in a row that the MRH-Richmond Wound Care program has earned this distinction.

PINEHURST — FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital and Moore Regional Hospital–Richmond were each awarded an ‘A’ in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2020 hospital safety grades. MRH–Richmond also achieved its seventh “Straight A” honor.

HAMLET — Richmond Community College graduated its largest Electric Lineman class on Dec. 3 with 22 students heading into the workforce, but the ceremony was bittersweet for this particular class. Back in October, lineman instructor Joey Keane passed away from health complications.

ROCKINGHAM — FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital–Richmond has been awarded the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award and Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.

ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County Economic Development is proud to announce the award of $1.5 million from the Golden LEAF Foundation toward the extension of a wastewater line. This grant, combined with a recent $1 million grant from NC Commerce Industrial Development Fund — will fund the entire project, meaning no funding will need to come from county taxpayers.

NCDOT drone program wins Cleantech Innovation Award

RALEIGH — The N.C. Department of Transportation’s innovative drone program has earned another award, this time for the use of drones to deliver medical supplies and the positive environmental impact the initiative will have in the future.
