Betty Jean Nelson Troxler

ELLERBE — Betty Jean (Nelson) Troxler, 78, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020 at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

She was a native of Richmond County, born June 4, 1942, a daughter of the late Elmer and Doris James Nelson. She was the widow of Elvin Leo Troxler who passed away in 2005. They had been married for 47 years.

In addition to being a homemaker, Betty Jean worked with Burlington Industries for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and she also loved her church family at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she was a charter member.

Her memory will be cherished by her two sons, Greg and Gary Troxler, both of Ellerbe; six grandchildren, Cody Troxler, Summer Troxler, Shane Troxler (Leann), Jarrett Troxler (Maureen), Autumn Troxler and Sierra Wiles; four great-grandchildren, Jace, Ashlyn, John and Luke Troxler; and two sisters, Carolyn Greene (Bobby) and Peggy Hammond.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings Avis Craven, Mary Frances Craven, Ruth Hall, Joe, John and Billy Nelson.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Strickland and the Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. The body will lie in state from 12:45 until 1:45 in the church prior to the service. The family will not be present for the prior-to-the-service time.

In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions, facial masks and social distancing will be required. Following the service, interment will be in the church cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her late husband.
