ROCKINGHAM — Elizabeth Lee Gibson Smith, 89, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020.
Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 30, 1930 in Scotland County, a daughter of the late Garland and Rena Hester Gibson.
She was a devoted member of West Rockingham United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had worked for several years as a nurse’s assistant at Care Inn in Rockingham.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Ray Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Lawanda Smith Walker (W.G.), Milton Ray Smith Jr. (Ruthie) and Sharon Smith Riggan; grandchildren, Brian Walker (Mandy), Jennifer Lambeth (Jamie), Corey Smith, Erskine Brooks (Brooke) and Nicole Goins (Will); great-grandchildren, Katelyn Walker, Matthew Walker, Carley Lambeth, Walker Lambeth, McKenna Brooks, Camden Brooks, Kylee Goins and Kolton Goins; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private service at West Rockingham United Methodist Church with a public graveside service at noon Monday, Oct. 12, 2020 at Richmond County Memorial Park. Mrs. Smith will lie in state from 3:30-5 p.m. Sunday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with attendance limits in accordance with COVID restrictions.
