James and Barbara Barringer

ROCKINGHAM — James and Barbara Barringer started their life as one June 21, 1984 in Illinois. They parted in death together, this week close to each other’s side. Barbara passed Dec. 8, 2020 and James Dec. 13, 2020 in Rockingham.

Jim and Barbara had 38 total years together, starting in Illinois and then ventured to Moore County, North Carolina. They raised five kids together, Brenda, Michael, Kathleen, Deetta and Joseph. They have 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grands.

Jim and Barbara both come from very large families with many siblings. They loved to travel and go camping to the beach and the mountains. They met many people along the way, some became close friends. Both were huge animal lovers and had three fur kids, Ms. Minnie, Bo and Chewy. Jack and Jill crossed over the rainbow bridge. Their children had fur siblings growing up and as adults.

Big Christmases were a normal in the Barringer house; Barbara loved baking sugar cookies and decorating, it was her favorite time of year. Jim enjoyed giving everyone nicknames and teasing people. Barbara was a bookkeeper for the family business and Jim drove a truck for the better part of 40 years. They enjoyed life to the fullest during retirement. They will be greatly missed by everyone who knew them.

A memorial service will be held for both Jim and Barbara on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020 at 4 p.m. at Watson-King Funeral Home, Hamlet. Please follow social distancing guidelines and mask requirements.
