Margaret Horne

ROCKINGHAM — Margaret Faye “Horne” Shepherd Horne, 83, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Horne was born Nov. 16, 1935 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late John and Gertrude Rhodes Shepherd. She had retired from LOF Glass Company in Laurinburg, where she was the first female glass cutter, and was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Isgett Horne; a daughter, Deborah H. Bowers, and a son, John W. Horne.

Surviving are her son, Nelson Horne (Debra) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Dawn DeWitt (Chris), Stacy Graves (Jeff), Marcus Bryant (Kari), Michael Bowers and Carmen McIntyre (Steve); great-grandchildren, Devin DeWitt, Jacob DeWitt, Taylor Graves, Gavin Graves, Darrian Smith, Dawson Bryant, Colter McIntyre and Ashlynn McIntyre; great-great-grandchild, Macie Mumford; daughter-in-law, Chris Horne of Germany; sister, Delma Sue Menendez of Cocoa Beach, Florida, and brother, Eddie Shepherd of Rockingham.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Colonial Chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with the Rev. Chris Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will see friends from 1:45-2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
