HAMLET — Joyce Clemmer Taylor, 93, of Hamlet, North Carolina passed away surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce was a daughter of the late Oscar and Jesse Tyson Turnage, born Dec. 31, 1929.
Along with her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, William D. Taylor; and son, Tommy Taylor.
Joyce was a lifelong resident of Richmond County and took immense pride in her community. Joyce worked at Richmond Memorial Hospital for over 20 years as a dietitian. Joyce loved her family and spending time with them at the beach.
Surviving her are her children, Charles Taylor (Cathy) of Cherry Grove, South Carolina, Larry Taylor (Joanne) of Lexington, South Carolina, Michael Taylor (Deborah) of Columbia, South Carolina, Danny Taylor of Cherry Grove, South Carolina, and David Taylor (Tracy) of Ocean Isle; siblings Bobby Shepard (Shelia) of Raleigh, Jerry Shepard (Glory Jean) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Chad Matthew Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Traci Taylor Jones, Monica Meachum, Kim Martin, Justin Taylor, Shelly Taylor. Joyce also leaves behind 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Richmond County Hospice Chaplain Chris Thornton officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham.
In addition to flowers, memorial donations may be made out to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 U.S. HWY 1 N, Rockingham, North Carolina.
