Nicholas Locklear, 44, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan. 9, 1979, in Richmond County, son of Earline Locklear and Douglas Taylor.
Nick was a steel worker during his working years, prior to his illness. He was a die-hard Duke fan. Although he was quiet-natured and shy, he would help anyone in need, especially his family. He was also a loving father and his children loved him. He is now joined together with his beloved family, gathered at heaven’s gates, and is rejoicing that he got to go home.
He is survived by his children, Abigail Quick (Joseph) and Faith Locklear, both of Rockingham, Kyrah Locklear, Lilah Martin and Anthony Greene, all of Cordova; mother, Earline Locklear of Rockingham; father, Douglas Taylor of Tabor City; grandmother, Shelby Locklear of Rockingham; brothers, Corey Deberry of Rockingham, Chad Wilmoth of Shallotte, and Parker Lewin of Wilmington; sisters, Ashley Wilmoth of Tabor City and Brittany Simmons (Jesse) of Rockingham; granddaughter, Lilianna Lewis; numerous aunts and uncles, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a gathering at Harrington Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his grandmother, 128 Locklear Drive, Rockingham.
