Richard Allen Moody, 81, of Laurinburg, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
He was born Jan. 21, 1943 in Scotland County, son of the late Lacy Gerald Moody Sr. and Frances Childress Moody.
Mr. Moody proudly served in the United States Army. After completing his military career, he went on to become an optician in the early 1970s. He continued to work as an optician, with Hardwick Vision Center, until his passing. He was passionate about his work and loved his job. Mr. Moody was a wonderful family man, especially enjoying his grandchildren. He loved being with family and also, enjoyed going to the John Blue Festival.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Moody, and sister, Katie Moody.
Mr. Moody is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Hester Moody of the home; children, Christopher Moody (Alexis) of Pennsylvania; Philip Boone (Carolyn) of Laurel Hill; Christina Saiz (James) of Hamlet and Nikki Keyes (Adam) of Hamlet; grandchildren, Kayla (Chase), Virginia, Payton, Abby, James Anthony and Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Cayden, Maxton and Sophia.
Visitation will be Monday, April 15, 2024 from 1-2 p.m. at Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., immediately following visitation, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with Pastor June Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Richmond Memorial Park with military honors.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the family home, Lytch Road, Laurinburg.
