Roger Dale Goodwin, 79, of Rockingham, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 8, 1944 in Richmond County, son of the late Jack and Maggie Deberry Goodwin.
Roger retired from Pee Dee Electric Corporation after a prestigious 41 years of service. Prior to working with Pee Dee Electric, he worked with J.P. Stevens. Roger enjoyed the outdoors and found enjoyment, with his brother Dennis, in splitting wood to give to anyone in need. He was the most selfless, hardworking man.
There was never a dull moment with Roger and he was quite comical. He loved life, his Savior, his wife Carol, and his family. He will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life of 55 years, his wife, Carol Ford Goodwin; brothers, Leo Goodwin and Dennis Goodwin.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Tammy Goodwin Driggers (Darren) and Dana N. Goodwin; caregiver, Jessica Driggers; a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and a multitude of friends who he considered family.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at Mount Calvary Rock of Ages Church, County Home Road, Rockingham.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Rock of Ages Church with Pastor Donnie Nuttall, Pastor Butch Park, and the Rev. Walt Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery, alongside his wife.
