OBITUARY: Ronald (Max) Adrianse

ROCKINGHAM — Ronald (Max) Adrianse of Rockingham passed away Wednesday, June 21,2023 at the Richmond County Hospice Haven.

He was born on Aug. 25, 1932 in Kent County, Michigan, to Dorothy and Fred Adrianse.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Lois Croom Adrianse.

His family was a huge joy in his life. He was the oldest of 10 children and is survived by three sisters, Donna Dozema (Bruce), Dotty Kent, and Helen Carey (Stan); four children, Terry Mercer (Steve), Ronald Adrianse Jr. (Polly), Fred Adrianse, and Kim Brown (Dan); 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was a proud veteran that served in the Korean War. Upon returning home he worked at Smith’s Auto Parts, JP Stevens, and finished his career at Butler manufacturing in Laurinburg.

Max was active in the community and especially loved his church family at 3 Rock Church. He and Lois were avid dancers and participated in the Tea Cup Squares, Nora’s Round Dance Club, and Hamlet Silverliners, Many days he was present at the Hamlet Senior Center where he danced, exercised, or met with the Veterans Club. Each year he participated in the Senior Games of Richmond County where he competed in various events with Lois, Terry, and Kim and especially enjoyed horseshoes and bowling.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3 Rock Church at noon on Saturday, July 1, 2023. The family will receive friends at the church at 11 a.m. before the service and other times at 1204 McDonald Ave., Hamlet.
