OBITUARY: Wanda Chavis Gainey

With profound sadness, the Gainey family announces the passing of Wanda Chavis Gainey on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

A lifelong resident of Rockingham, she was born July 13, 1948 to the late Cosby G. and Dorothy Hendrix Chavis, whom she dearly missed always.

She attended First Presbyterian Church and had been the owner and operator of Oldies and Goodies Antiques.

She was a faithful wife for 50 years to Eugene Carol Gainey, who passed away Dec. 8, 2017.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a dear sister, Sharon C. Kiker; and beloved nephew, Jon Michael Robich.

She was the devoted and loving mother to Nicolle Gainey and Leslee Greene; cherished grandma to Morgan Taylor (Jonathan), C.J. and Caroline Greene; proud great-grandma of Teagan and Autry Taylor; dear sister to Ron Chavis (Lee), Diane McElligott and Caron Robich (John); and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
