Wilma Eugenia “Jean” Ross Newberry, 75 passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Born April 9, 1948 in West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Elon Freeman Ross and Hilda Proctor Ross.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ross Davidson.
Jean served in the medical field for 30 years. She and her husband Jerry traveled extensively to 49 states and Canada. She had a great love for animals, especially her cats.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Jean will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, from the graveside of Marshville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10-10:45 at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerry L. Newberry; son, Wes Newberry (Nickie); sisters, Lorena Ann Ross Krammerer and Robin Ross Davis; nephew, Arnold “Dowd” M. Hilton III (Sheila); nieces, Makayla Ann Hilton, Hayden Alivia Hilton, Serina Jean League and Cheryl A. Jordan (Rae).
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Rockingham Humane Society, 205 Boone Road, Eden, NC 27288.
