Erik Hawks has two back-to-back performances in his home county this weekend.
The Richmond County native, now living in Fayetteville, will be performing with the Hard Luck Band for the 2024 finale of Hamlet’s Boxcar Concert Series Friday night, as well as on Saturday for the Seaboard Festival.
A graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Hawks was named Male Performer of the Year in the 2024 Carolina Country Music Awards. He had also been nominated for Songwriter of the Year and Single of the Year for his tune “End of My Rope.”
Hawks has recorded and released several other original songs including “Notebooks,” which references Bear Branch Road, and “Tracing Your Tattoos.”
While he regularly performs solo gigs at Hudson Brothers Deli in Rockingham, Hawks has had several performances with the full band in Richmond County the past two years, including SpringFest and the open house at Rockingham Speedway.

Hawks and the Hard Luck Band will be playing on the stage set up on Main Street in front of the Hamlet Depot for both Friday (6-8 p..m.) and Saturday (noon-1 p.m.).
Friday’s free performance coincides with TGIFriday Food Trucks on Main, with the following vendors lined up: Mama Blair’s; Tacos Mr. Pancho; Burger Bros; Seasoul Melody; Flakis Mexi Snacks; and Puckered Up Lemonade.
Another Richmond County native, Jonathan Robinson, will be performing with his band at the stage near Hamlet Public Library at noon. Other bands include the Special Occasion Band (Depot stage) and the Sand Band (library stage) at 3 p.m.

Back in Rockingham, there are two other chances for live music.
Norton Farms is hosting its final concerts of the fall season this weekend, with Julia Golden on Friday and Tyler Watts on Saturday, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with several food trucks starting at 3 p.m. both days.
Hudson Brothers Deli will also host local musicians Chuck Smith and Nikki Fletcher from 8:30-10:30 p.m.
