ROCKINGHAM — Two Guilford County men are accused of breaking into a local convenience store and police say they are suspected of break-ins in other counties.
On Oct. 21, the Rockingham Police Department announced that formal charges were in the process of being levied against Bobby Ray Williams Jr. and Beroy Reid Jr., both of Greensboro.
Williams and Reid allegedly broke into Conner’s Convenience on Oct. 10.
According to an arrest warrant, Williams stole various brands of menthol cigarettes and an unspecified amount of currency. He is also accused of breaking into two gaming cabinets in the store.
Court records show the warrant was issued Oct. 16 — charging him with one felony count each of breaking and entering, and larceny after breaking and entering, as well as two misdemeanor counts of breaking into a coin or currency machine — and Williams was arrested by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office the following day.
Police say the two were identified through an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation.
While not reflected in online state court records, the Guilford County Detention Center shows Williams has pending charges from the following counties: Moore, Rockingham, Catawba, Davidson, Orange, Wilson, Wake, and Cabarrus.
Williams is being held on a combined $71,000 secured bond. His court appearance on the Richmond County charges is scheduled for Nov. 13.
It does not appear Reid has been served. However, court records show he does have pending charges in Moore, Lee, Catawba and Guilford counties. His bond was posted on Oct. 18.
Both Williams and Reid have multiple prior convictions.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
