ROCKINGHAM — A man is facing multiple charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor nearly three years ago.
Court records show that 28-year-old Mark Anthony Hutchinson, whose address is listed north of Hamlet, was indicted by a grand jury on March 17 on two counts each of taking indecent liberties with a child, sexual battery and assault on a female.
Hutchinson is accused of grabbing and rubbing certain areas of the reported victim’s body against her will for “sexual arousal or sexual gratification.”
The alleged assaults occurred Aug. 1-24, 2022, according to court documents. At the time, the reported victim was under the age of 16.
An order for arrest was issued March 25. Court records indicate the OFA was returned on June 18. However, records show he was booked into the Richmond County Jail at 11:08 a.m. June 20.
Hutchinson is being held on a 400,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court June 27.
Court records show Hutchinson was previously charged with two counts of taking indecent liberties in 2024 — with an offense date of Aug. 1, 2022 — however, those charges were dismissed in February of this year.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
