ROCKINGHAM — In a heartwarming holiday event, Santa Claus and the Grinch made a special visit to Richmond County Health and Human Services (last week), bringing joy and smiles to staff and visitors alike.

The festive duo, accompanied by a team of elves, arrived at the agency in Rockingham to celebrate the season and spread cheer. Santa, with his jolly demeanor, and the Grinch, with his playfulness, posed for selfies and gave candy canes to all the children and families who came.

The event was organized to lift spirits and provide a moment of joy during the busy holiday season.

"We wanted to do something special for our community and show our appreciation for all the hard work and dedication of our staff," said Theressa Smith, interim Social Services director. "Seeing the smiles on everyone's faces made it all worthwhile."

The visit included a special holiday-themed health fair, where attendees could learn about Richmond County Health and Human Services programs and participated in fun activities. Santa’s elves served hot chocolate with marshmallows and sprinkles allowing families to capture festive photos with Santa and the Grinch.

The event was a huge success, with staff and visitors expressing their gratitude for the unexpected holiday cheer.

"It was such a wonderful surprise to see Santa and the Grinch here," said one visitor. "It really made my day and reminded me of the true spirit of the holidays."

Richmond County Health and Human Services extends its heartfelt thanks to Santa, the Grinch, and all the elves for their time and generosity. The agency looks forward to continuing to serve the community with joy and compassion throughout the holiday season and beyond.
