ROCKINGHAM —  A young man is facing several misdemeanor charges two years after one of the warrants was issued.

Caleb Jacobs, 20, is accused of breaking into an East Rockingham home and damaging the window on March 6, 2023. According to the warrant issued the same day, Jacobs had been told not to be on the property.

The alleged victim also accuses Jacobs of taking her cellphone while she was trying to call her mother for help.

Jacobs is also accused of going to the same home in October of that year and assaulting the reporting victim.

According to another warrant, issued Oct. 26, 2023, Jacobs grabbed the victim by the throat, pushed her down and punched her while waving a gun. He allegedly told her, “I ought to shoot you in your stomach.”

At the time of the alleged incidents, Jacobs was 18 years old.

Jacobs was arrested April 9 and served with the two warrants, charging him with: two counts of second-degree trespassing; assault on a female; breaking and entering; injury to real property; interfering with emergency communication; and communicating threats.

He was booked into the Richmond County Jail on a combined $6,500 secured bond, but it appears he has been released.

As a condition of his release, Jacobs is ordered to have no contact with the prosecuting witness, stay 100 yards from the reported victim, and not possess any weapons. His court date is scheduled for April 21.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
