Buildings and Grounds Worker II
Under general supervision performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance of City grounds, buildings, equipment, and facilities; performs related work as required.
Performs preventive maintenance and repair on all City facilities, equipment, grounds, and structures; determines that equipment, supplies and materials are available and ready for use; performs varied tasks with regard to the repair and maintenance of City grounds, buildings, facilities, and equipment; constructs, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of City equipment; paints, repairs and City buildings, City equipment, and other related facilities; performs minor mechanical maintenance and preventive maintenance on equipment; performs plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work; repairs furniture, equipment, and building hardware; checks difficult maintenance problems; prepares maintenance activity reports as required; plans work requirements and maintains records of work activities; maintains an inventory of supplies, materials and equipment; cleans, mows and performs other duties as required.
Considerable experience in the general maintenance field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Skill in the use of various hand tools and light equipment.
Ability to detect malfunctioning equipment by observation; ability to operate light equipment; ability to work independently; ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
