Richmond County libraries suspend programs, waive fees

ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County’s libraries are suspending all programs until further notice.

The announcement was made on a Facebook post Monday afternoon.

In addition, the libraries are halting use of meeting rooms and waiving all fines and fees.

“We believe it is in the public’s best interest to continue to provide the community with resources and information, so we are encouraging our staff and customers to follow best practices for hygiene, as recommended by the CDC,” the post concluded.

Earlier in the day, the libraries requested that patrons who are sick stay home and asked those who are just returning books to use the dropbox outside.

“All our electronic resources are available on our website, www.srls.info,” that post reads. “If you are unsure how to use these resources, please give us a call and we will help you get started.”
