DOBBINS HEIGHTS — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a death investigation after a body was found behind the Dobbins Heights Community Center Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff James Clemmons said the investigation is in the early stages.
He confirmed the body was that of a black male, possibly in his mid-to-late 30s. No positive identification has yet been made nor a cause of death determined.
Mayor Pro Tem Tyre Holloway said the body was discovered by a pool attendant, while children were at the pool.
Clemmons said deputies were on the scene for about 15 minutes before the park and community center were closed at 3 p.m.
The sheriff doesn’t anticipate a cause of death to be determined until the body has been seen by the Medical Examiner’s office.
The Richmond Observer will have more information as it becomes available.
