NORMAN — A woman was killed early Sunday morning when she was hit by a tractor-trailer on the Interstate 73-74 bypass.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, 34-year-old Angela Allen had wrecked her car just inside Montgomery County in the southbound lane.

Around 2:30 a.m., she was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer, troopers say.

The original point of impact was just feet inside the Montgomery County line but extended into Richmond County, according to troopers.

Mountain Creek Fire Department Chief Keith Smith confirmed Sunday that his department handled traffic.

Troopers say Allen had a Florida driver’s license but they believe she was living in North Carolina.

The Highway Patrol is awaiting the toxicology report to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved.
