ROCKINGHAM — A trio of Richmond Senior High School softball players completed the postseason award trifecta Wednesday, when the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association released its 2019 4A All-State team.

Just a couple of days after earning All-District honors, seniors Savannah Lampley, Taylor Parrish and Greyson Way were selected to the state’s highest recognition. The other postseason award the three earned was making the All-Sandhills Athletic Conference team at the end of the season.

Lampley, Richmond’s shortstop, and Way, the team’s No. 1 pitcher, are no strangers to the All-State team. Both were named following their sophomore and junior seasons, making this the third time they’ve been selected. Each also earned top individual state accolades following their junior season, getting the East’s “Player of the Year” and “Pitcher of the Year,” respectively.

Parrish, who played first base this year, was new to the All-State team this season, earning her first career selection. The three Lady Raiders were part of a nearly 80-player roster, and South Central High School’s Amaya Evans and John T. Hoggard High School’s Jesse Mathis earned the East’s “Player of the Year” and “Pitcher of the Year.”

On the West, it was Mooresville High School’s Ellie Goins (Player of the Year) and West Forsyth High School’s Alex Rodriguez (Pitcher of the Year). Last week, Lampley and Way were named District 4’s Player and Pitcher of the Year.

“Once again we are so happy to see Richmond well represented on this year’s All-State team,” Richmond head coach Wendy Wallace said. “It’s fitting that these three seniors end their high school careers with this accolade because of their hard work and contributions to our program.

“We look forward to watching their continued success at the college level,” she added.

The three were a part of the first RSHS softball class to have all of its players sign to play college softball. Lampley will head to UNC-Wilmington, Way will play at UNC-Greensboro and Parrish will continue her career at Pfeiffer University.

This was the second-straight season the Lady Raiders had three players named to the All-State team. Last year, Lampley and Way were joined by former player Brianna Baysek.

Richmond tallied a 24-3 overall record in 2019 and won its seventh-straight conference title. The Lady Raiders earned tournament wins at the Beach Diamond Invitational in April and the SAC tournament in May.
