HAMLET — Benny Gray Gilmore, 49, of Hamlet, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Hamlet.
Benny was born May 2, 1972 in Lee County, a son of Della Hamilton Gilmore Hewitt and the late Bobby G. Gilmore. He was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School, Class of 1991. He loved the Carolina Panthers football, racing and most importantly he loved his family.
Surviving are his wife, Michelle Burns Gilmore; mother and stepfather, Della and Bobby Hewitt; stepchildren, McKayla Ard (Amber Loftis) and Scottie Loftis; brothers, Wayne Knight and Johnny Knight; sister, Miranda Gilmore (Terry); step-siblings, Bobby Hewitt Jr. and Belinda Oblinger and five nephews and two nieces.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021 at Abundant Life Church, 1797 E. Broad Ave., Rockingham, with the Rev Joe B. Wilkes Jr. officiating.
The family will greet friends following the service.
