ROCKINGHAM — Betty Sue Lane Chance, 88, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
Mrs. Chance was born Feb. 22, 1934 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Brady and Jenny Donathan Lane.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking. She had worked in textiles, at Wendy’s, and as a cashier at Lowe’s, from where she retired.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Chance; a son, Robert Wayne Turnage; and siblings, Gladys Willard, Avaleen King, Clifton Lane and Herbert Lane.
Surviving are her sons, Ron Turnage (Debbie), Roger Turnage, Johnny “Toby” Turnage; grandchildren, Shawn Turnage Weigman (Gary), Kerry Turnage, Christie Turnage McRae (Sandy), Jill Turnage; great-grandchildren, Kimber, Garet, Carson,Cayden Peyton, Aubrie, Jake and Cameron; a sister, Barbara Ann Walters; and two great-great-grandchildren on the way.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with the Rev. Tony Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 9:45–10:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
