Joey Keane

ROCKINGHAM — Joseph Francis “Joey” Keane, 68, of Rockingham, completed his earthly journey Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020.

Joey was born Feb. 4, 1952 in Cumberland County, a son of the late Joseph Chancey and Plumer Mae Clark Keane.

For over 24 years, he was a member of the East Rockingham Men’s Club and East Rockingham Fire Department, where he had served on the Board of Directors. He was also a member of Sweet Haven Church.

Joey had worked with Pee Dee Electric for 27 years, Richmond County for 23 years, retiring as park supervisor at East Rockingham Park. Following his retirement, he became a electrical lineman instructor at Richmond Community College. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Clark; and a sister, Geraldine Keane.

Surviving are his wife, Roxann Leviner Keane; sons, Joseph Francis Keane Jr. and Brian Edward Keane; grandchildren, Laney Grace Keane and Hannah Elizabeth Keane; sisters, Mary McDonald, Helen Walker, Brenda Anastasio, Carrie Olivero, and Debbie Jo Keane; and a special uncle, Jack Keane.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 outside at Sweet Haven Church with the Rev. Mitchell Roller and the Rev. Eddie McLean officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park with the Rev. Butch Park officiating.

Joey will lie in state Wednesday from 9–11 a.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham.
