Alexander “Buddy” Greer Jr., 75, of Rockingham, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Aug. 20, 1948, in Rochester, New York, son of the late Alexander Greer Sr. and Bernice Deming Greer.
Buddy loved trucking and worked as a truck driver for many years. He also loved to fish and woodworking. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. His greatest love was his family, his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Greer and Steven Greer.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Doris W. Greer of the home; sons, Roger Greer (Leslie) of Rockingham, Brian Greer (Phil) of Batavia, New York, Terry Greer of Southern Pines, Michael Greer (Christine) of Rockingham, and Shawn DiBenedetto (Sandy) of Woodruff, South Carolina; grandchildren, Austen Greer, Alexandra Greer, Roger Greer Jr., Reagan Greer, Riley Greer, Sandra Smith (Charles), Garrette Reed, Savannah Wheeler, and John Brannan; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Greer of New York and Douglas Greer of Colorado; and sister, Elizabeth Butler of Maiden.
All services will be held private by the family.
