ELLERBE — Doris Jean Johnson Arkle, 84, of Ellerbe, completed her earthly journey on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022.
Mrs. Arkle was born Feb. 28, 1938 in Akron, Ohio, a daughter of the late Lennie Raymond and Easter Elizabeth Damron Johnson.
She was a graduate of the IdaBelle Firestone School of Nursing in Akron, Ohio, and worked for many years as a registered nurse. She and her husband loved collecting antiques and owned an antique store in Ellerbe many years ago.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Arkle; and an infant brother, Lennie R. Johnson Jr.
Surviving are her daughters, Beth Trussell and Gail Solis; dear friends who she considered her children, Lisa and Jimmy Hayden; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Ellerbe with the Rev. Elizabeth Polk officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
