Gladys L. Loftis, 88, died peacefully May 25, 2023 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.
Gladys was born Sept. 5, 1934, the daughter of the late Alvin Lewis and Georgia Lewis.
She was a graduate of Hamlet High School and Richmond Community College and a lifelong member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. She retired from Richmond Community College after 26 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Loftis; sister, Bobbie Jean Gibson; brothers, Charles Lewis and Fred Lewis; granddaughter, Courtney Deese; grandsons, Stephen Smith and Kenneth Smith; and great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Loftis.
Surviving are daughters, Dianne Carroway (Ron) of Rockingham and Karen Richardson (Robin) of Hamlet; son, the Rev. Jim Loftis (DeLaine) of Dallas, N.C.; grandchildren, Jason Loftis (Emily), Crystal Richardson-Forrest, Ashley Loftis and Brian Loftis (Brooke); great-grandchildren, Ethan Deese, McKenzie Bayless, Kylee Deese, Chase Deese, Cameron Sedberry, Bethany Loftis, Jace Loftis, Baylee Loftis, Chanceton Forrest and Bryson Loftis; great-great-grandchild, Emory Deese; and sister, Grace Martin of Arcadia, Florida.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 3 between 12:30 and 1:30 at Pine Grove Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 2 with the Rev. Carl Moree, the Rev. Caroll Anthony and the Rev. Jim Loftis.
Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery.
