OBITUARY: Ruby Victoria Phillips

Ruby Victoria Phillips, 98, of Winston-Salem, passed away surrounded by her loving family April 12, 2024.

Ruby was a daughter of the late Roland and Lizzie Hall and was born in Cumberland County.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husbands, John B. Adams Jr. and the Rev. Lee Phillips; and siblings, Rusty Lovelace, Al Hall and Ralph Hall.

Ruby lived most of her life in Rockingham before moving to Winston-Salem to be near her daughters. Ruby worked for many years as an office manager at Belk department store in Rockingham before retiring. She enjoyed reading her Bible and watching birds and other wildlife. Ruby loved to solve jig-saw puzzles and grow beautiful flowers in her yard.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Pat Stewart, Katherine Ballou (and husband Steve) and Annette Gilliam; sister Doris Nichols; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruby also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, with the Rev. Darcy Knight officiating. Family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
