OBITUARY: Tangela Albright Martin

Tangela “Tangie” Albright Martin, 59, of Hamlet, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023 at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Oct. 21, 1963 in Richmond County, daughter of David Mack Albright and the late Betty Jean Hayes Albright.

Tangie was the most loving, caring woman that anyone would meet. She especially loved and cared for many children throughout her childcare career. She began with Country Daycare in Rockingham, teaming up with Carla Callahan more than 36 years ago. Following her tenure there, she and her sister, Amy, operated Kid’s Krossing in Hamlet for several years before Carla would purchase the daycare and again partner together with Tangie for several more years. Tangie was passionate for the children she worked with, and was creative, caring and made learning fun.

Tangie was family oriented and was always involved, engaged and present for her children and grandchildren. She was a great “NaeNae” to her grandchildren and other family and friends who affectionately knew her. It was important to her that her family was settled and happy, even in recent times during her illness. Tangie was the most patient and forgiving person. She served as an excellent example of a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean Hayes Albright; and brother, Mike Albright.

Tangie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Stanley Martin of the home; children, Ashleigh Martin Hudson (Chad) of Rockingham, Brittany Michelle Todd of Hamlet, and Michael Hayes Martin (Kaegan) of Laurinburg; her beloved grandchildren, Cooper and Grey Hudson, Chloe, Remington and Maverick Todd, Alec, Madisyn and Lillyann Martin, and baby Martin due in January 2024; father, David Albright of Hamlet; brothers, Jim Albright (Wanda) of Laurinburg and Jason Albright of Gibson; and sister, Amy Albright Perry (Randy) of Rockingham.
