Man with pending charges in Richmond County accused of having heroin, meth

ROCKINGHAM — A man with pending drug and larceny charges was allegedly caught with drugs again.

According to a warrant, 24-year-old Alston Blake Croke, of Country Canyon Drive, was caught May 3 with an unspecified amount of heroin, methamphetamine and Xanax pills.

He was arrested by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and charged with one felony count each of possession of heroin and possession of methamphetamine, as well as a misdemeanor count of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

He was released on bail the same day and is scheduled to appear in court May 13.

Online court records show Croke has a May 10 court appearance on one felony count each of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering, and one misdemeanor count of injury to real property.

That case stems from an investigation by the Hamlet Police Department where Croke and James Dwight “Trey” Russell III are accused of breaking into a Hyland Avenue home on Dec. 15, 2019 and stealing two televisions, an Xbox gaming system and a set of gaming headphones.

Croke is also scheduled to appear in court June 3 on a felony charge of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance.

Records with the N.C. Department of Public Safety show Croke has no prior convictions in the state.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
