HAMLET — Betty Strickland Parks, 78, of Hamlet, went to be with her Lord, Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at Pruitt Health, High Point.
She was born in Hamlet, July 6, 1942, daughter of Pete Strickland and Lucy Cole Strickland.
Mrs. Parks was a faithful member of her church and loved going there. She enjoyed watching gospel programs on TV, talking on the telephone and being with her family. She previously was a Certified Nursing Assistant and had worked at Britthaven, as well as doing private duty in homes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George “Harvey” Parks Sr.; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, George H. Parks Jr. and wife Gail of Hamlet; grandchildren, Sarah Graham of Cordova and Cynthia Sellers and Michael Sellers both of Hamlet; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Brian, Nicholas and Sarah. .
The family will be having a memorial service at Bible Free Will Worship Church, Hwy. 381, Hamlet, Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at 3 p.m. Masks and social distancing encouraged due to COVID-19.
